in 1835 the united methodist church founded the town of oxford just north of covington georgia. the same year the church established the georgia methodist's conference manual labor school. in 1836 the name was changed to emory university in honor of methodist bishop john emory. the school was closed from 1861 to 1866 due to the civil war. after general william t. sherman burned atlanta in 1864 his troops moved east ward to oxford. there were brief skrimishes in oxford between union and confederate troops and buildings on campus were used as a confederate hospital. sherman's troops took over oxford and emory university and destroyed the school's library and archives. in 1933 the main campus of emory university was moved to atlanta and today oxford collage of emory university is a two year college. of interest to the tourists is oxford college's beautiful campus and it's civil war sites.

Usually, I am easy to please. However, I will never go back to this restaurant.
I decided to eat there on my recent trip to Covington; it was late, I was tired; it was across from the hotel.
My initial reaction was WOW! It looked very nice inside, I was seated by the window, next to the pool with fountain. I looked forward to the meal!
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was deflated as soon as the food arrived -- vegetables were of undefinable color, obviously far from fresh; other items tasted like soap.
Nevertheless, my waiter was very cheerful and helpful. In fact, she acted like she was serving gourmet food!
So if you to just sit and relax, do visit this place. If you are hungry, look for another establishment. I ended up buying a chocolate bar at the gas station. :-( I don't complain -- chocolate is my favorite food anyway! :-)
Favorite Dish: What exactly did I try to eat?!
