    Dalton and Whitfield County

by Basaic Written Dec 31, 2011

Dalton is a decent sized city of over 33,000 located in Northwest Georgia not far from the Tennessee Border. It is the second largest city in this part of Georgia after Rome, and is the county seat of Whitfield County. The area was first settled by Creek Indians, who were displaced by the Cherokee, who were in turn displaced during the infamous "Trail of Tears". There are a number of floor covering businesses here along with several historic homes. The Whitfield County Courthouse, however, is not one of them. For a modern courthouse though it looks pretty nice, though.

The Dalton Depot is a must. The City of Dalton is doing a downtown streetscape project. The restaurant is in an old train depot building with lots of train items. All the food is great. Everyone likes to go there.

Favorite Dish: blacken shrimp and grilled chicken salad. both are yummmy
