like most southern county seats there is a confederate civil war memorial. what makes this memorial unique is that it is located in a park about 1/8 mile away from the county courthouse. the memorial is located in a beautiful city park on main street near the madison-morgan cultural center.

heritage hall also known as the jones-turner-manley house was built in 1811. this beautiful greek revival building is home to the morgan county historical society. heritage hall is open to the public.

a good first stop when in madison is the tourist office. there you can get information on hotels, restaurants, and locations of madison's historic homes and buildings. the tourist office is located a block west of the courthouse.

the ye old colonial restaurant is located in the 1880's old morgan county bank building. this interesting restaurant offers southern cooking, fried chicken, barbecue, and fish. they also serve a southern style breakfast.
