    Vincents: Local family Italian fare

by dustmon Updated Aug 21, 2011

A good but not fancy place for a family Italian meal, or a date night. There are coupons available in the local papers and they also have an early bird special dinner price. Full bar and no TV's----kid friendly and not too expensive.
Veal, pastas, salads, sausages and more.....
    updated august 2011---
Had a good linguini with meatballs and "gravy", and also some pasta with clams and red sauce---good garlic rolls and a nice beer selection, all for a really reasonable price. Check it out if in the area---coupons in the paper some times...

Cajun Johns: Best Po-Boys....hard to find

by dustmon Updated Aug 20, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Brother Jonh

Brother John has a sandwich/Po-Boy shop behind a Citgo Station on Powder Springs St. It used to be the car wash, and now sells homemade po-boys with catfish, whiting, shrimp, oysters, or whatever. They are huge and can feed 2 easily---the bread is delicious and his tasty spreads make the sandwich spicy and delectable! He also does alligator, rice and beans and other sides, and he specializes in frog legs! MMMMMM! He is only open for lunch and dinner from 12-7 and he is closed on Sundays. His place is across the street from the new Government Building being built now.

    This has now closed---Aug 2011

Favorite Dish: Catfish Po-Boy for about $8

    Atlantic Buffet Marietta: Asian Buffet

by dustmon Written Jun 7, 2011
    Atlantic Buffet Chinese/Asian

Asian, Sushi, Chinese, even Mexican at times (?)
Lots to choose from if you are very hungry, come here. Very inexpensive and a good value for the money. Buffet style lines, food can be a little, shall we say, not hot enough.
    But still recommended.

Hashiguchi: Fresh Sashimi and great lunch deal

by dustmon Updated May 25, 2011
    Hashiguchi

One of our furniture stores is right down the street from this wonderful Japanese restaurant, which has one other location near Lenox Square. This is a small Japanese style restaurant with tables and also a middling size sushi bar. The Sushi Chef is very proficient---I almost always go here for lunch and get one of the lunch specials, which includes the excellent Miso soup and a small salad with their special dressing....My choices usually are the Sashimi/teriyaki combo or the Sashimi/ special spicy fried chicken combo---MMMM!
The staff is very appreciative, and I love going here.

This is now closed May 2011---the Lenox Square area one is still open.

Favorite Dish: Sashimi!!!!! Very fresh, and artfully presented.

Li's Asian Cuisine: Sushi, Thai, Chinese and more!

by dustmon Updated Apr 4, 2011
    Li's Place

This is a casual, but fine place for just about any Asian Cuisine. There is currently a Delta Skymiles thing going on where you can get 3 miles per $ spent here, and after trying it out, I love this place! I asked the chef what the best thing on the menu was, and he said "The best things are not on the menu." I am having my son and his wife to visit soon and we are going to ask the chef to cook us something special! They have Thai, Chinese, Sushi and Sashimi, and much more--check out the website.

  • Marietta Diner: Busy, busy, busy & LOUD!!!

by Jolietvilletraveler Written Mar 6, 2011

Greek influence, servers, etc. Very busy place. Long lines to get in on Sunday. Fast, fast service once you are in, however. Trying to rush you to get out so someone else can be seated. Greek lemon chicken soup excellent. I had a turkey patty sandwich...ehh. Onion rings & french fries & slaw all very good.

    Favorite Dish: Lemon chicken soup.

    Oga's: fresh veggies, meat & 3

by dustmon Written Nov 27, 2010

Oga's has 2-3 locations around town, and this one is similar to the rets---mostly 3-4 meats such as chicken, country fried steak, casseroles and such, and veggies----a meat and 3 place, with meat and your choice of 3 veggies (or 2) and biscuit or cornbread for about $8 these days. A good meal for a good price.
