Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield was the site of two civil war battles waged by the Union in its attempt to sweep across the State of Georgia. The Confederate soldiers dug in deep and defeated the Union here, in a sense. Eventually, the South was forced to retreat and General Sherman and the Union army continued on to Atlanta. The battlefields have been preserved here, some historical markers have been added and several trails lead to the top of the mountain and key battle sites. Kennesaw is a popular place for those seeking to understand the history behind it or the beauty within it. For more information, feel free to visit my Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield State Park page. Leave a Comment Directions: I-75 to Barrett Parkway (exit 69) and follow the signs.

This area of course played a large part in the civil war. Kennesaw Mountain was the site of a large battle in 1864, (I know I've got the sweatshirt on), and is maintained as a very interesting monument to the time. On site is a Visitor Centre with museum and gift shop. A drive to the top gives fantastic views of the area and access to gun emplacements so you can imagine the battle raging. Well worth an afternoon of anyones time Leave a Comment

For kids too young to enjoy Great America, or parents who don't want to spend that much on admission, American Adventure is a great place to spend the day with the little ones. American Adventures is open 7 days a week beginning May 25th thru August 11th. Located right next door to Six Flags White Water, American Adventures is Georgia's only amusement park created especially for families with kids up to the age of 12. It features outdoor amusement rides such as a tilt-a-whirl, scrambler, super slide, miniature roller coaster, balloons, bumper cars and swings suitable for kids up to age 12 (and adults!), plus smaller-scale rides for tots such as trains, planes, teacup twirl, and miniature Ferris wheel. Leave a Comment Directions: 250 Cobb Parkway North Marietta, GA 30062 (US 41 - Exit 113 off of I-75)Other Contact: Check out the website at Sixflag

A Dead Ringer? (hahahaha!) This is a rather cunning forgery... er, reproduction of another bell in Philadelphia. It lacks an essential feature of the original though, and you're almost tempted to take a sledgehammer and hew a big crack in the thing, aren't you? Leave a Comment Address: The Square

The Square This is Glover Park, also known as Marietta Town Square or simply 'The Square.' It's surrounded on all sides by bars, restaurants and shops - I'm going to dwell only on a few of these that I've been in but others are certainly worth checking out, like a Slovakian eatery of some sort and a few other interesting joints. Leave a Comment Directions: "Well, it's about two miles west of the Big Chicken on Roswell Road, you can't miss it."
