mcdonough's city cemetery is the final resting place of revolutionary war, civil war, world war II, korean war veterans and many prominent citizens of mcdonough. the city cemetery is also the final resting place of the victims of the great train wreak of 1900. the city cemetery has a very good collection of funerary art.

  • McDonough City Cemetery

    by KEITHGC34 Written May 26, 2013

City Cemetery in very bad shape - Some tombstones have been laid one upon another and some have just been discarded into stacks of what appears to be a trash pile. Broken markers throughout due to vandals as well as fireants galore. Quite a few markers are unreadable due to the type of marker so unless you know specifically where someone is buried it is virtually hopeless to look. I went in search of a couple of markers and had to leave since I was so saddened at the state of the cemetery.

courthouse square in downtown mcdonough is worth a visit when in the mcdonough area. the square is lined with shops, restaurants, and bars. when staying at the numerous road side motels on I-75 downtown mcdonough is worth the five minute side trip.
