the jasper county courthouse was built in 1908 in the neo classical style. the courthouse was filmed in the 1992 movie "my cousin vinny".

pictured is the confederate civil war memorial located on courthouse square in downtown monticello. this plain obelisk with two standing solders is an unusual civil war memorial style. there is a similar monument in nearby milledgeville.
