The Old Mill, Berry College, GA

The Old Mill at Berry is one of the most photographed sites in Georgia. The mill was built by students in 1930 and is still in use today grinding cornmeal. According to the cornmeal bag the Old Mill is powered by what is considered the largest extant wooden overshot wheel in America.

    House o' Dreams

House o' Dreams, Berry College, Georgia

The House o' Dreams was built by Berry students as a place of rest and retreat for Martha Berry. The house is located at the end of a long and winding gravel road accessible from the Mountain Campus. It's as "off the beaten path" as you can get at Berry - and for good reason. Still, Martha met with many guests in her rustic retreat. You may arrange tours of the house and gardens through the college.

    Stretch Road

by cruisingbug Written Jan 23, 2004
    Stretch Road, Berry College, GA

Berry College doesn't end with the Main Campus. At the north end of the main campus lies the "stretch road" which connects the main campus to the Mountain Campus. The Mountain Campus is the home of Chick-Fil-A scholarship students as well as such classes as animal husbandry and horsemanship. Some of Berry's most beautiful scenery and buildings lie on the Mountain Campus, which is home every year to Mountain Day, Berry's annual "homecoming." The Viking Trail, opened since I graduated, runs alongside the stretch road for runners and bicyclists to enjoy the scenery without danger of accidents. The deer, however, don't stay on the trail, so obey speed limits and watch out!
