Pembroke is a small town of just over 2000 located near Savannah. It was established in 1892 to serve as a railroad stop and for shipping turpentine. Pembroke was named after an early settler Pembroke Whitfield Williams and became the county seat of Bryan County in 1935. It seemed like a decent town. Bryan County was named for Jonathon Bryan a patriot during the Revolutionary War.
