Very good Southern cuisine along with seafood dishes. Don't miss the lunch Plantation buffet which appears to be the most popular choice. The buffet has great fried chicken and many more great side dishes. This might be a controversial statement, but I liked the Plantation buffet at The Pirate House better than the buffet at The Lady and Sons. The outside of the restaurant (facing Broad Street) looks like a complete dump, but is very nice once you get inside. They encourage you to tour the facility and they have done a great job with the decor. Bottom line, I have to highly recommend the place. Good family atmosphere.
Get the Plantation buffet if you are there for lunch. Great selection.

This is a great, simple, family-oriented restaurant. It serves good Southern food with lots of great vegetables. It's inexpensive and a great place to take a family with kids. It's also great for people who are vegetarians, or who simply love vegetables, and want good, solid, Southern cooking. Their vegetable dishes are numerous, quite varied, and outstanding.
They serve numerous different sweet potato dishes, with the choices varying from time to time. We had several and they were all great. The lemon collards and corn pudding, were outstanding, and the chicken and okra were also great. It will be on the right near a Burger King and McDonald's.

Sunset at AJ's by Dutchnatasja Locals say AJ's Dockside Restaurant on Chatham Avenue is the best sunset watching area on Tybee Island. AJ's dockside has great food and quite the local hang-out. The interior is simple, but with a view over the water, the rest isn't important. Well of course the food is important. They have some specialties that are good, they have not much variety on the menus, but I was able to making a choice. There is live music during the weekend. Try AJ's Dockside down at the marina for great food and fabulous sunsets. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanAddress: 1315 Chatham Ave

Sorry Charlies by cfwestbe A great local restaurant one block from the City Market in downtown with a pub atmosphere that is family friendly.
we tried the Meatball sub ($6.25); the Meatball spaghetti dinner ($8.95); the pepperoni and salami Calzone ($7.95); and the Angus burger (half pound for $6.95). All of the food was great. Firstly, there are tons of places in Savannah sold to you as "local", "famous", "flavorful," and blah blah blah. Yes, truth is they've got nothing well rounded to offer and they're way interested in a certain plate dollar for more or less crapola. Think I'm exaggerating? Then go for it! GOOD EATS however is a neighborhood cafe with tons of downtowner flair that is casual and minimal but has that eclectic mix of people that we all love to sit amongst while eating the best of food and listening to fun music. They do lunch, dinner and one of 3 of my favorite brunches in the area on Sundays. Dinner I recommend reservations. Sit in our out.
Oooo....I'm a sucker for their homeade polenta with really tender chicken breasts, tofu and marinara sauce. There's a nice side salad with balsamic and a healthy homemade spicy biscuit. I totally dig a dish called "Greg's Grilled Cheese" which is on a nice ciabatta bread, the chicken is grilled and make sure you order it with thinly sliced Bermuda onion ON the sandwich. Don't over look their Cuban plate either which pretty much involves divinly grilled Salmon, blackbeans, salsa and totally authentic plantains! Wine and beer available and no smoking inside. Firstly its near the beach on Tybee Island. Even if you're in Savannah, you HAVE TO GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! Its 15 mins in your car from downtown Savannah. Basically if you're looking for the best breakfast food in the South mixed with Chicago line cook comedy(and who doesn't live for this!?), this is your place. My recommend is grab a counter seat for front row viewing or hold out for a booth. The regular dining room is kind of a bore so wait in line until you get dibbs. The owner is a major cub fan for any who care to know, he loves fantasy football and actually catered John F. Kennedy Jr.'s(R.I.P.) wedding on Cumberland Island, GA because the original chef got drunk and passed out on the beach. HINT: Tell any of the staff that "the wizard sent you" and they will immediately adopt you as their favorite new customer. Trust me!
You can't beat the fact that the owner fishes and serves his own catch. The special's menu is the one sheet they stick down the front every day and that is my choice of where to live while there. He also names his dishes according to pop culture and political culture weather. You're bound to find "Peter Parker's Paysenne Omelette" a delight but don't overlook their classic "Pegasus Omelette" either. Oh and if you're a waffle or burger freak these are the real deal too. Only the freshest and the best. The coffee rocks and the service is so superb its mindboggling but completely refreshing! Just look for the line around the block if you're there on the weekend!

Lunch by pat110 The taxi driver forgot to tell us why Six Pence Pub is famous -- it was prominently featured in the movie, Something To Talk About, with Julia Roberts. It was delightful if a little pricey!
Prime Rib sandwich -- cooked to perfection and so tender! That and a cup of the most delicious French Onion soup I've ever eaten! Leave a Comment Theme: Pub/BreweryPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 245 Bull Street in the Historic District
