There are several options for cruising on the river. Along River Street you will find large old fashioned looking river boats which make for good photography... as well as smaller craft designed for short cruises to explore the river with a little commentary.
When I say a "little" commentary, I mean just that. We were disappointed in the river boat cruise. The commentator was not very talkative or entertaining. We sailed up river but not down river...so what was included was just the port and the bridge.
It would have been nice to fill in with some stories, jokes or music, but there was none of that. We thought the river boat was better to look at and imagine the ride rather than actually take the ride. Perhaps it would be better as a dinner cruise? Didn't strike me so... but perhaps if you were in a group of jovial folks.....
A cruise up the peaceful Savannah River is a fantastic way to see this historic city.
The Savannah River Queen is up to the task, for it can hold up to 400 people. As it plys the water, the Georgia Queen can accommodate 600 people. The sights and sounds of the waterfront are exhilerating as you glide along the water!
With the wind in our hair and a few less dollars in our pockets, we rode the waves for too short a time, for it was a great experience!
