Trolley and Carriage Tours, Savannah

We took the All Day Historic On/Off Tour and it was a great way to get to know the city! We purchased our tickets from C.Savannah before we even got to Savannah and picked them up from their store on Bay Street. This was really convenient and gave us piece of mind that we had reserved space on these very popular trolley tours.

The tour guide was really knowledgeable and kept us entertained throughout the formal portion of the tour. She took us throughout the Historic District and showed us the highlights of the city, many of which we decided to revisit after the tour. Afterwards, we could get on and off the trolleys as much as we wanted from the 15 stops they had throughout the Historic District of Savannah.

This is a "must do" in Savannah especially if you've never visited this city before! It was a great way for us to get to know this charming city.

This tour company advertises that they have been voted the Best Tour in Savannah, are locally owned and have been in business for 25 years.

As we came off the bridge, we saw the people out on the street waving people down. So we went in and parked - parking is Free. The tours start at 9am. The last tour of the day starts at 4:30pm. and run about every 15 minutes. On this tour, as on the Gray Line tour which I was going to take, you can hop on and off.

I persuaded them to give me this price (minus a discount) so we could get off for lunch.

We got a really knowledgeable gentleman who was quite entertaining as our guide. The open air cars protected us from the sun, but didn't interpose reflections from the glass on the photos.

The only problem I have with this company is that their map doesn't have the route on it, so I can't key the pictures I took to any kind of time line.

We took the 90min trolley tour from Old Savannah Tours, leaving from the visitors center off of MLK Jr Blvd. Competitively priced, and both drivers were excellent tour guides. It's amazing how much they know about their home town!

One suggestion: if the temp is above 85F or so, you may want to take your tour early in the morning. Our tour was done in the afternoon, and the temperature peaked at ~105F during our tour. Yikes!

We ended up purchasing the all day trolley tour for about $22 p/person because you could get on and off the trolley all day till they stopped service. We rode the entire thing the first time to get the history and ghost stories. you could actually walk the entire town without the trolley and sometimes there were long waits at certain spots, like the pier. We would walk up a couple of blocks and get on at a less busier location. By the end of the day, we rode the trolley twice, so it might have been worth getting the cheaper $10 ticket (you get on only once but get the history etc). If you are going to shop and have tons of bags and tons of time and if you get tired easy, then the trolley tour is worth it. If you are there for a little while and have energy to explore, then I recommend the $10 tour. Don't forget to get a map.

A very good way to get a general feel for the city and to decide on where to explore more in depth is by taking a 2 hour trolley tour through the Old City.
There are several companies offering similar tours and most tours originate at the Visitors Center on Martin Luther King Jr, which is the street that I-16 turns into.
I have taken and would recommend Oglethorpe's Tours because at present they only charge $10 p/p and after you take the 2 hour tour you can use the trolleys as a taxi service- they will pick you up at any of their designated stops and take you to any other part of the tour route you may wish to go up until closing time (5:30 pm).

the Old Savannah Tours are so much fun , and very educational . You get to jump on a trolly and ride around the whole town . You get to see the Juliet Low house and other exciting places . During the day they are happy and friendly , but try to catch a night tour for the haunted trolly tours ! O0o0oohhhhhh

The best way to see a lot of Savannah in about an hour & a half is a trolley tour. The trolley goes all around town and passes most of the major point of interest.

I took the Ghost tour many years ago and it was a lot of fun too.
