Factory Second Stores - not always a bargain
There are strings of these places all along I-75 in South Georgia. The biggest collection I've seen is in Lake Park, just a few miles north of the Florida Border, with multiple strings of these stores along both sides of the interstate highway. For those not familiar with factory second stores, they're more or less dumping grounds for discontinued merchandise or clothing with "small" aberrations in the stitching, sizes and shapes, basically anything that didn't pass quality control at the main factory. So, to minimize losses, companies ships these items far away alongside a highway to capitalize on the steady flow of tourists, and where better than I-75 with throngs of folks coming down from Canada and the Rust Belt to enjoy the Florida sun? Oh yes, they're name brand merchandise, Russell Athletic, Levi's, etc., offering deep discounts, but remember the age-old motto, you get what you...
