Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

by traveldave

Delta Air Lines is based at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Because Delta Air Lines is one of the largest airlines in the world, with hundreds of daily flights, Atlanta is one of the busiest airports in the world. Lately it has been trading the title of "World's Busiest Airport" with Chicago O'Hare International Airport, which recently surpassed Atlanta to become the world's busiest. The airport is located ten miles (16 kilometers) south of the downtown area. Airlines serving Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport: AeroMexico, Air Canada, Air France, AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, American Connection, American Eagle, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, British Airways, Comair, Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, Delta Express, Frontier Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air, Lufthansa German Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Qatar...

License Plates

by grandmaR

When we were children and on a car trip, we would 'collect' license plate sightings - that is would would keep a list of the different state license places that we saw on our side of the car. When my husband was in the Navy, we could often do this right on the base because military people can keep their home state license plates. So I've been looking at different state plates as we travel around.Georgia's plate is black on gradient grey and white with orange and green peach graphic and state outline at center and "www.GEORGIA.gov" slogan at top. Normal Georgia plates have a peach on them, but there are many kinds of 'vanity plates' which have symbols of various organizations and sports. If you go to the government website you can see what a variety there is.

MARTA

by Phildy

Great for getting to and from the airport, the MARTA system in Atlanta is worth considering for a cheap alternative method of transport. If you travel off-peak, the cost is low and there's plenty of room to carry your baggage. The system is clean and safe and a much better idea than buses.During my last trip in June 2010, another great MARTA feature came up, getting to the car rental places is a breeze. Just outside of the terminal area, there's a train station and after a short ride, you end up in car rental heaven Atlanta style. Drop off is much easier and you end up right near checkin!

Georgia D O T

by davecallahan

The Georgia Department of Transportation provides access to a website aimed at helping tourists driving in the state. There is a section on which roads are being worked on and which ones are closed or have detours. There are real-time highway cameras and live accident reports. There are weather reports, hurricane warnings and advisory messages. They provide maps and trip-time calculators. They provide roadside assistance numbers to call.I find using the SITEMAP feature useful because it puts all the options on one long page with added explanations. If you are going to drive in Georgia, you would do well to check out the website below.

if you don't have a car

by take_it_eazie

you can go in to town from the airport by MARTA .it costed 1.75$ all the way but it s kinda slow so if you are in a hurry don't use the MARTA . Caps could be a better choose for you . MARTA run from (axpor.) 5.00 am - 2.00 am.

Take a carriage ride

Go take a romantic carriage ride around, you won't ever forget it! This state is full of romance and history. It's a nice slow ride in a pretty white carriage. For more information check the local visitors center.

planes and cars are best. Few trains and bad bus connections from other cities.MARTA/subway-bus network accesses all major tourist areas. They all run frequently, except may Sundays and holidays. Public transit is really extensive network, running most sectors of the city every 10-15 mins. Subway every 7 mins in rush-hour, evey 10-15 mins after 6:30pm and before 6;00am. Tourist and day cards available at Airport and Five Points stores(tourist areas). Driving is futile, since traffic is the worst per capita in the US, and none of the Southerners have a clue how to use turn signals, and refuse to allow for driving courtesy of accessing thoroughfares.
