Favorite thing: This is one side of the short street in downtown Warm Springs. This is a historic hotel that has been converted to a bed and breakfast. We looked at the rooms. Very neat indeed. Well worth staying there.
Favorite thing: Not much larger than a modern twin bed. You will notice it does not have room for two. Even though FDR was married to Elanore, she rarely came to The Little White House, and was not there when he died (but his girlfriend was).
Favorite thing: The entire town seems to be devoted to arts and crafts and eating - not a bad thing. After a long day of driving and touring the Little White House, I only have one thing left to say, "Ya'll come back now, you heah?"
The main streets of Warm Springs are filled with antique and other shops. It is a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The shops have unique, handmade, on of a kind items.
Fondest memory: The Watermelon Festival is always VERY fun. It is totally centered on watermelons. Everyone comes from miles around with their prized watermelons. People wear watermelons on all their clothes. It is fun and there are a lot of watermelons to eat!!
Favorite thing: All fifty states are represented along this walk way. Also, at the base of each flag is a stone which reflects the state from which it came.
Favorite thing: FDR was having his painting done when he died. His girlfriend was there with him and had commissioned the painting.
