As founder Sonny Tillman says: welcome to the "Feel-Good Bar-B-Q." This favorite barbeque restaurant is still where I had remembered it. AirForceJoe used to eat lunch here, too, and rates it a favorite. A southeastern nine-state chain formed by Sonny Tillman in 1968, the Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Qs specialize in slow hickory smoked pit barbeque where the meat falls off the bone in tenderness. Sit down or take-out. Choice of five sauces. Our group of ten was promptly seated and orders taken. The restaurant is spacious with picnic-like tables with tablecloths and benches that can seat large or small groups served promptly and plentifully by friendly wait staff.

Full, comprehensive menu on their website (click below, with Sonny's theme music!) includes ribs, pulled pork, beef, steaks, (20 oz. T-Bone!), burgers, chicken, smoked turkey, franks, catfish, combos, beverages. Lunch specials-soups and salads, also.

Favorite Dish: The last time here ten of us guys and gals in the evening EACH ordered a full rack of pork Baby Back Ribs. All agreed it was the best ribs they had ever eaten. Choice of sides including barbeque beans, cole slaw, baked or sweet potato, tossed salad, garlic bread, others. You won't go away hungry! Warm damp towels are provided for cleanup of the stickiness. The crowd of us all agreed to pick up the ribs and eat with our hands as the easiest and most enjoyable way to pig out on finger-friendly food!

Good food, great desserts and nice prices

Favorite Dish: If you are really hungry, then the Mega Buffet is for you. It consists of an endless variety of all-you-can eat hot and cold foods (e.g., chicken pot pie, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, etc.) as well as the bakery bar (unlimited trips for ice cream, frozen yogurt, cakes, cookies, pies, candy and other favorites).

You are in the deep South now. Even here in an Asian restaurant, if you order either hot or iced tea with your meal, your server will automatically add sugar (lots of sugar) to it before it is brought to your table. So, if you like your black or green tea WITHOUT sugar, SO SPECIFY WHEN YOU ORDER. Otherwise, you may get something that you may dislike or can't stomach. If there are a number of you at the table and it is a usual hot Summer day, you may be served a large PITCHER of sweetened iced tea. It may not be your cuppa!
