If you're a budget traveler, this is worth the little splurge. Prices range from around $200 to 400+ depending on where you want to go. Blue Hawaii offers tours on 6 of the 8 major Hawaiian islands. Waikoloa is the best known heliport as they cover a vast area.
However, it is much cheaper to use the Hilo heliport to fly over the volcano at a rate of $179.

This isn't really an activity or anything but I had no idea where to put this tip. From time to time, you'll get a shock by seeing goats on the side of the road. It's no apparition you're seeing. The goats live in the rocky and dry North Kona/South Kohala land area. On my way home from work, I took a differen't route and came upon a family of goats running alongside the road. I've never seen them up so close before!
They sort of scare easy so be incognito when approaching them. If you get to close, they will scatter.
Excersive caution if you're driving at night as they may be crossing the street.
