Go downtown and do some browsing through the shops on Kamehameha Avenue. If you are lucky, you will be there on one of the two days a week the local farmer's market is taking place. What a feast for eyes and mouth! Beautiful fruit, vegetables, and other delicacies! Flowers and plants that you have never seen before!

Another must see, is the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park. Hilo is a good base to visit this infamous, active volcano destination. It is about a 45-60 minute drive to the drive-in volcano. So many things to see and do. You must allow at least one full day to fully appreciate this park. Two days would be better if you plan to take any substantial hikes. Best to get a yummy picnic lunch, which there are many choices of ono (delicious) food to purchase in Hilo. Hilo Lunch shop has the best Okazu for picnics. Or try a Loco Moco at Cafe 100.

Rainbow Falls is a must see, especially after a heavy rain in Hilo (can be quite often). The falls are quite spectacular after a big rain.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - Established in 1916, with one of the world's most active volacanoes.
A definite MUST SEE since the Hawaiian chain of islands were formed by volcanoes that erupted on the sea floor thousands of years ago. The island of Hawaii is the youngest, and is composed of 5 volcanoes, 2 of which are still active - Kilauea and Mauna Loa. Kilauea, the most active volcanoe has been erupting since 1983.

This bakery has been here for ages. I don't know where else you would find colorful breads flavored with mango, papaya and other tropical fruits.

Head over to Kona and do a little deepsea fishing. With plenty of luck and skill you may come back with something like this.
