Hula Show

There is a dinner and hula show at Uncle Billy's. They have good seafood and the show is fun. You never know who will be putting on the show because it is always local talent and who ever shows up is who performs.

Night show of lava on Kilauea

Seeing the lava flow in the daytime is awesome in itself, but no words can truly express the overwhelming excitement of seeing the glowing lava at night!

Dress Code: Long sleeve garment, good covered shoes, maybe a hat and/or windbreaker (rain, wind, and cooler temperatures) Bring a flashlight and water ... unless you want to just purchase it at the beginning of the hike.

Kona Brewing Co. Pub: Brewery

If you like brew pubs this is a good place to go. It was the first microbrewery on Big Island and is now quite big. Some beer examples: Longboard(Island lager), Fire Rock (Pale Ale) and for girls one with passion fruit flavour.
The place has a nice patio area and it is not too touristy. At least we thought locals hang out as well. Dinner menu is nice as well: tasty salads and pizzas from a stone oven. Yummy!

LuLu's: Party on at LuLu's
2rs profile photo

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

2rs 140 reviews

If you want a good time while in Kailua-Kona go to LuLu's. This is the place to be in the weekends with a good mix of local residents and vistors partying and dancing into the early hours.

Bring a note of your local currency and make a difference between all the dollar notes stapled to the walls in the bar, and if you find a norwegain 50 kroner it's probably mine.

Dress Code: Casual. If you really want to dress up, put on a nice Aloha shirt and a smile.

A spectacular Samoan fire knife dancer

The highlight of the evening during a Luau was the spectacular Drums Of Polynesian Revue. From the Fijian and Maori dances of war to the gracefulness of the Hawaiian Hula dancer's hands. This fabulous group of Polynesians brought us a fun filled evening we won't soon forget. The daring Samoan fire knife dancer highlighted the evening with an astonishing demonstration of bravery and skill.

If you feel the need to party hearty lated in the evening you may do it by yourself. There didn't seem to be too much going on at night. Its not a bad thing, just an observation.
