Not a day passed on our first trip to the Big Island that we didn't stop by Papa's. He served the best food on the island. As soon as we finished our meal he would bring out freshly baked cookies still warm from the oven.
I wanted to stay in Pahoa for ever and go there every day to eat.
When we returned on our second trip, the restaurant was gone and I was so sad.
You will still find a restaurant in that location and probably a computer so you can get online.

There is no shortage of Thai restaurants in Hawaii but the best we found was in Pahoa.
The Sawasdee is a very busy little place and for good reason.
Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the pineapple fried rice served in half a pineapple.

Sawasdee Thai Restaurant
Nice open air restaurant - you can watch people walking by on the boardwalk and hear sounds like a band playing. There is one bar in town where you can go right up on stage and be the featured performer!
Favorite Dish: curry anything

Paulo cooks like a dream and his homemade dishes are wonderful. The best Italian food is here.
From the soup to the desserts everything is homemade.
On 3 different trips to Hawaii we always make sure to eat here several times per week.
Buy your wine, order your food and relax .
A true chef serving the best food in town.
Favorite Dish: soup, ravioli, and bread because it is all made by hand !

A small intimate restaurant with great Italian food. The restaurant is an old house on the main street of Pahoa. The food is local and fresh, the staff are very friendly and the chef is Italian. They do not have a liqor license, but that's not a problem, you simply buy your favourite wine at the local grocery store and show up at the restaurant....or you can order your appetizers and then go buy your wine!
Favorite Dish: I had one of the specials - lamb, which was delicious. My partner had the seafood pasta, which tasted great. The food is mostly vegetarian and seafood - the only meat dish was chicken. They make their own ice cream - we had fresh peaches in port wine with ice cream - yum!
