Crashing surf
Just to the south is Panaluu Beach Park. It is a flat grassy area with several small trees near the beach.. From several vantage points you will be amazed at the crashing surf.

Marvel at the black sand
If you have never seen a black sand beach before then this will take some getting used to.
It is a pretty beach lined with coconut palms.
It is not really a good place to swim because of the strong undertow.

Watch the ducks
In back of the beach is a duck pond. It is very relaxing to stand on the bridge and watch the ducks swimming around the pond. Many "lucky" ducks migrate and spend their winters in Hawaii.

Turtle sightings
Sit quietly on the beach and watch for a green sea turtle to come ashore to bask.
In Hawaii, the green sea turtle is known as Honu (pronounced hoe-new).

Adults can grow to 4 feet and weigh up to 400 pounds. The shell is a mottled dark brown on top and creamy white below. It is often covered in green algae .

The turtles are protected species so just look do not touch.
