Big Braddah's Take Out: Big Braddah's Take Out
Though right down the street from Jo Jo's Shave Ice (which is known for having like a million-billion flavors), Big Braddah's shave ice was much better. They didn't pack it and it didn't melt.
Favorite Dish: Shave ice- what's a trip to Hawaii without shave ice?
Merriman's in Waimea: Fine dining in Cattle Country
When I was on the Big Island in 2005, my friends had their wedding rehearsal dinner here. We didn't get a chance to order off the menu, but looking around I could tell that this would be an excellent choice if you're looking for fine dining while on the northern side of the Big Island. This is an owner operated restaurant, and the chef prefers to use locally grown or caught produce and seafood. We had the grilled ono, a delectable Pacific fish comparable to grouper. Standards are high here, and there is an extensive and reasonably priced wine list as well.
