Kapalua Things to Do

  • Seaweed Wrap at Kapalua Spa

Kapalua Spa opened to much anticipation in July and already lives up to the hype about it being the best destination spa on Maui. It's truly beautiful, like an elegant beach house, overlooking Kapalua Bay. The huge building is mostly open-air and all components, from the movement studio, fitness center, beauty salon and relaxation lounges, have...

  • Kapalua Bay

This is an excellent diving and snorkeling beach as the water is calm and protected by a reef. There is easy access into the water from the nice sandy beach. It's a great place to teach young children to snorkel as there is a large population of reef fish many which can be spotted very close to shore. Has a beautiful crescent shaped beach and views...

Kapalua Restaurants

  • Nice little quiet restaurant with good...

Fish and Poi restaurant is located next to the lobby of the Napili Shores Condos. The restaurant appears to be on the edge of casual fine dining, I guess one could say. I wore a nice summer dress and my husband wore shorts and a tshirt. The restaurant is for the guests of the condos but is open to anyone who wants to come in and eat. When we were...

  • My experience with local restaurants

In general, restaurants in Kapalua are very expensive but we managed to find a couple of places that were reasonable.Honolua Store - Made to order breakfasts and lunch. Generous portions and excellent prices. Breakfasts started at $2.95, lunches around $5.95. Can eat on the porch with a view of the golf course.Breakfast items - the normal-eggs,...

Kapalua Shopping

  • Little General Store Close By Napili...

Since Napili Shores and Kapalua are kind of like the "last little areas" west of Maui Napili General store is a small store back in our little corner of the world. You CAN drive about 1 mile up the road to the Napili Shopping Center but if you just want to stop in and by some postcards, a can of soda, or a hiking book on Maui you can do these...

  • Great place for renting snorkel gear,...

Close to Napili Shores Condos and Kapalua Resort. If you just want to rent some snorkel gear for a day you can get good gear for about $5 per person per day. Cheaper rates apply if you rent the gear for an entire week, I think it ran around $10 for a week. $5 per day for snorkeling gear or around $10 per week per person. You will need to check the...

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I'm always searching for wildlife wherever I go. Did spot these red-crested Brazilian cardinals close to the resort and golf course. They are not native to the Hawaiian islands but are found on the islands of Maui, Oahu, & Kauai.

Kapalua Sports & Outdoors

  • The Underwater World

Snorkeling and scuba diving are popular activities sports. Kapalua Bay was our favorite and it's considered to be one of the safest areas with its protected reef. Reef fish could be seen in just a few feet of water. Pick up a free Maui Dive Guide at one of the local dive shops. The maps are great and indicate the best snorkel/dive areas on the...

I'd guess a large percentage of people visiting Kapalua are here for one thing only, to play golf! It has 3 championship courses each with a clubhouse, pro shop & restaurant. Millions of TV viewers have watched Kapalua golf via worldwide telecasts of pro tournaments like the Mercedes Championship. The Bay Course - Par 72, 6,600 yards this course was...

  • My Close Encounter

I've been to Hawaii many times but always visited in the fall. This was my first spring trip and to my surprise the Hawaiian waters were teaming with humpback whales! From November through early March humpbacks can be seen playing, frollicking and breaching in the warm Hawaiian waters. There are supposedly 8-10,000 around the islands...their main...

These pine trees look similar to Norfolk Island but generally have a wider cone shape. They were discovered by Captain Cook and were brought to Hawaii from New Caledonia. D.T. Fleming a plantation owner and conservationist, planted over 13,000 pines by 1920 in the Honolua/Kapalua area alone. You can't miss the graceful towering giants as they are...
