This should be on everybodies must do list!! Since the big boats book up early we tried another boat (the Maka Kai) and were really glad that we ended up with this boat. Not only were there just 12 people on the boat (compared to well over 100 on the other boats) but the crew was teriffic and quite informative. We went on the morning trip so they gave us a continental breakfast and a deli style lunch. We snorkeled at turtle town and at Molokini. They had life jackets, boogie boards, and noodles all to help people that aren't extremely strong in swimming. They also had fishing, wet suits and underwater cameras for rent. The best thing about this boat was that there were so few people on it compared to other boats that you weren't always having to say excuse me as another flipper got in your face. In fact, when looking at those other boats you almost felt sorry for those people.

Beautiful village with a fantastic beach...Life is Good! So much is available within a walking distance. Park the rental and head out into town, to the park or the beach.
Taste the local coconuts and ice cream.
Rent a surf board, a kayak or be carefully daring and rent a wind surfer.
Go for a swim, a walk, explore the beautiful plants and terrain.
Just please be considerate of the locals (see warning sign;-).

My daughter was driving me nuts about surfing lessons while we were on Oahu. We didnt get a chance to do it there but when we got to Maui we decided to do it here. I ma glad we did because it was so much cheaper and less crowded in Kihei.
We booked the surfing lessons with Maui Beach Boys. We met up in Cove Park. It isgreat to learn here because its shallow and the waves arent too big. My daughter had lessons before and she was able to get up and she did very well. Her only complaint was that she wished the waves were bigger. She was ready for something more challenging. There is about 2 to 4 people per instructor and I cant remember what we paid for the two hour lessons but I do know that it is cheaper than at Waikiki. There is also a guy out there taking pictures and putting them on to CD for you. Just in case you cant take the pictures yourself. He is also very good and has a powerful lens to get those close up shots. The CD is alittle expensive, $30 for the CD but I bought it ayways.

Drop by Henry's Bar in Kihei. It's owned by a friend of mine. Nice little bar located in a small shopping mall on the corner of S. Kihei Road and Lipoa Street.
If you're in Kihei, drive south, past all the tacky tourist congestion, and see Makena and beyond. The road gets rough after a while but go as far as you feel comfortable. It's real pretty down there.

This activity although quite pricey is an awesome thing to do and a great way to see Maui. We flew with a pilot called Captain Kirk on Air Maui. He was really informative and made my fear of flying non-existant.
We flew over west Maui and over to another island. We saw incredible waterfalls and even went over a non-active volcano.
When it is over you are given the opportunity to buy a dvd or tape of your flight.
Everyone should try this at least once in their life.

Down the road past Wailea is Little Beach. It is a clothing optional beach and easily accessable from the road or by kayak from the sea.
