I witnessed what appeared to be drug activity on a few occasions in the downtown area with people buying and selling drugs quite openly. I was disappointed not to see any cops there but I guess they don't consider it as much a prority as in the touristy south coast of Maui. In fact there were very few police anywhere on the island. Anyway, while the dopers didn't seem to bother anyone I'm going to guess some of them need to steal to support their habit hence other warning on VT about thefts from cars. Remember not to leave valuables in your car and be careful where you park. Thee public lot on the south side of the health food store appears to be particularly active in this kind of activity.
