Va Bene: Excellent Italian Food At The Marriott

by H-TownJourneyman

This very nice restaurant within the Maui Marriott on Ka'anapali is a great place if you are in the mood for Italian cuisine on Maui. The location is great, near the beach, and there are some nice views if you dine here during sunset. When we ate at Va Bene, it was surprising, and a bit refreshing, that the place was not that crowded, especially at the traditionally peak time around sunset for dining on West Maui. But I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place, primarily the food. I ordered a seafood pasta dish, that included some of the freshest and most delicious shrimp I had tasted in some time. They had an extensive wine list, and while I am not the biggest fan of wine, it was nice to enjoy some with this tasty Italian food. The staff was fabulous, very efficient and came by several times to make sure everything was going well with our meal. And the prices here are actually...

Cafe Marc Aurel: Try the Ginger and Mango Cheese if they have it...

by coneyislandgreen

Split personality, both addictive... In the morning this cafe is a coffee bar that serves organic coffee and in the evening it's a wine and tapas bar. And oh it is so good... If you happen to be staying in Wailuku it's right up the block from the Banana Bungalow hostel and a nice artsy contrast to everything that is ghetto in the neighborhood (sorry but you might know what I mean, and ghetto is ok, really). On weekends they often have local musicians play and it's open early till late unlike anything else in the town. The wine list is extensive and the food is gourmet, a very good hangout for any time of time. That Ginger, Mango cheese was like cheese cake, I was in love with it. But it's on a rotating cheese list.

Mama's Fish House-Maui: Don't miss the freshest seafood!

by TheTravelSlut

Mama's has been awarded just about every award a restaurant can earn and for good reason with a menu that is as unique as it is extensive. The food overshadows any ambience but a lunch or dinner can be an experience. The restaurant is an open air converted beach house in a coconut grove on a secluded white sand beach and if you dine outside, the outdoor dining is exciting as you can enjoy watching the windsurfers performing offshore in Paia. Macadamia nut MahiMahi fish dinner. Outstanding, simply outstanding.

Teppan Yaki Dan Restaurant: Teppan Yaki Dan Restaurant

by Fun4you

Great contemporary Japanese steak and seafood house. You sit at a large table that seats at least 8-10. Your personal chef puts on a show and cooks in front of you. For us he built a volcano from sliced onions, filled with with oil and lit it so it produced a flame from the top. Fun for everyone!!!Some menu items include filet mignon and teriyaki chicken; filet mignon with shrimp; filet mignon with scallops; and filet mignon with lobster. Or enjoy a Neptune of an entree with a combination of shrimp, scallops and the fresh island catch of the daySteak & Seafood5:45pm - 9:45pmClosed Sundays & Mondays It's all good land or sea

Nick's Fishmarket, Wailea: Nick's - AMAZING

by msaardvark

This restaurant was wonderful. The service was superb (4 waiters per table), the food excellent and the atmosphere romantic and elegant. We're not in that luxury category of travelers but we never felt uncomfortable. Nick's Fishmarket Maui Combining the magical beauty of the Valley Isle with the romantic flair of the Mediterranean, the award winning Nick's Fishmarket Maui offers the finest in local and mainland seafood in a lush, tropical paradise setting. Patrons dining outdoors will be captivated by overhead vine-covered trellises overflowing with stephanotis blossoms and sparkling lights, while patrons dining indoors bask in the warmth and coziness of the main dining room. For those just stopping by to sample the magic of Nick's Fishmarket Maui, a curving granite bar provides casual seating to enjoy tasty pupus and tempting cocktails. Hours of Operation: Open seven days a week....

Alexander's Fish and Chips: Fish and Chips

by msaardvark

Totally fast food. Seating outside and the inside where you purchase your food is not real clean. We both had the mahi fish and chips and it was very greasy. The fish (without) the breading was good but you wouldn't know that if you ate it as it was prepared. We ate with strangers (!) and one had ribs and one had shrimp. The woman's shrimp wasn't fried and she said it was good. Maybe they just need to change their frying oil more often but I wouldn't recommend this establishment.

Dish - Dine in Deliciously: Dish-ing it up in Maui

by runofthehouse

Renting a condo or timeshare is a growing concept for vacationers. A kitchen avails eat-in privileges after long days of sunshine and activity. You plan to save a little money by preparing meals in-house. You avoid the discomfort of fidgety family members who find restaurant service tiresome. Even adults long for some home cooking sooner or later. In theory it seems perfect. The only problem with a dine-in plan is it often leaves one member of the vacationing party straddled with chores including shopping for ingredients inflated by Maui’s notorious the paradise tax. After overpaying for basic condiments, spices and staples you may feel guilty leaving so much waste behind when it’s time to pack up. You will soon realize after visiting the supermarket, squandering precious vacation time, you’ve not even saved enough money to make the trouble worth it.The good news is the ladies at Dish...

Lappert's Ice Cream: Great ice cream at Lappert's!

by Erin74

There are a lot of ice cream shops in Lahaina, but Lappert's is definitely the best. Their smooth, creamy ice cream comes in all sorts of Hawaiian-inspired flavors, including Kauai Pie (Kona coffee ice crea, with fresh coconut, fudge and macadamia nuts) and Coconut Macadamia Nut Fudge. They are really, really tasty!! You have your choice of cones, from the standard sugar cone to the more decadent waffle cone. I highly recommend stopping by Lappert's for a scoop or two!

Cafe O'Lei Lahaina: Lahaina Restaurants

by guell

Our first dining experience on Maui was here, and what an experience it was! Cafe O'Lei is located on the main drag of one of the most charming, albeit touristy towns on Maui. Our friends Jessica and Colin, who were getting married in a couple of days, had invited us to dinner, and we had the entire upstairs terrace with an unobstructed view of the sunset to ourselves! I can't think of a better way to spend our first night on Maui than this. We had the saut?ed Mahi Mahi with ginger butter, papaya salsa, pea shoots, and steamed rice with a Mai Tai, of course. Mmmm, mmmm!
