Honolulu International Airport is the principal aviation gateway of the City & County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii. It also serves as the principal hub of Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines, the two largest Hawaii-based airlines, and as a focus city for Northwest Airlines (Now DELTA since norrthwest was absorbed by delta!) and ATA Airlines. Both airlines offer flights between the various airports of the Hawaiian Islands and also serve the continental United States. Honolulu International Airport is host to major United States and international flagship commercial carriers with direct routes to American, Asian, and Pacific Rim destinations. Driving Directions From Waikiki, drive to the end of the main Kalakaua Avenue and turn left just before the Honolulu Zoo onto Kapahulu Avenue. Follow Kapahulu Avenue to the end, where it merges into the H-1 freeway. Take the H-1 westbound and follow signs to the airport. Information is available from the State Visitor Information Programme (tel: 808 836 6413). Information booths are located throughout the airport. Personnel also work inside the foreign arrivals area. Public Transport: Road-Taxi: The Cab (tel: 808 422 2222) is the airport's authorised service. All taxis are coordinated and managed by Signature Cab Holdings. Taxis are available on the centre median in front of the baggage reclaim areas. Bus: There are several city bus services. The city bus system in Honolulu is called 'The Bus'. Bus no.19 eastbound and bus no.20 follow different routes to central Waikiki; bus no.19 westbound goes to Hickham Air Force Base, while bus no.20 goes to the Pearlridge Shopping Center, both via downtown Honolulu. Coach: The licensed shuttle service is the Waikiki Express which serves the hotels in Waikiki. Honolulu International Airport, 300 Rodgers Boulevard No 4, Honolulu, Hawaii 96819-1897, USA

by csordila Victims of flying may be even, if a mass catastrophe does not happen. On long lasting flights the considerable air pressure differences and the permanent immobility take uses your organism much better, than you would believe it. Your ear protests One of our most sensitive organs, the ears do not like even the shortest flight, since at the time of landing or take off a considerable pressure change happens in the internal ear. In the inside of aeroplane the air pressure grows or decreases suddenly. We feel only so much at this time that our ear crackles, our hearing is deteriorating, we hear a murmur, ringing possibly. These symptoms can be moderated, if we swallow hard, suck sugar, or chew bubblegum, It is important not to sleep in at the time of the take-off or landing. Take many liquids during all the time of the flight. The consumption of mineral water or juice is highly recommended, even if you are not thirsty. The humidity of the air in the planes is very low!! The foot gymnastics obligatory The other frequent complaint is that the foot swells up , an oedema take shape on the ankle. Many people hardly can get off because of this. Important, that we let move the limbs repeatedly, and let us be strolling on the board. Theme: Airplane

by Randall_Burt Great way to learn to walk. My Son on a 8 hour flight on a TWA747. He ran all over the plane. Good way to entertain. This flight was not to full. I have been on flights that they see a baby and want to move from their seats to where there is no baby. I always hoped people like that would be sucked out of the plane. by Randall_Burt Plane. If you have the time and money I think by ship would be great. I have flown each time. I have flown from Chicago,La, Sanfrancisco,Osaka Japan, Cains Australia, St Louis. The bus is the best way to get around Ohau. It is cheap. Frequent, And after renting cars, Its the best. It cost more to park at hotels perday than to rent a car. You might want to rent a car one day and drive around the Island, about 100 miles but you can go for a couple dollars(fare) all the way around the Island. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Our Hawaiian license plate by OrlandoBR There are small advertisements on the Classified section of the LA Times, offering packages to Hawaii. There are excellent prices, especially if you're traveling with a group of friends who can share a room. We got airfare, accomodation and car-rental for a real bargain. We went on a Hawaiian Airlines DC-10, it took just a little over 5:30hs to get there and the view of the city right before landing was just fantastic. That, plus a good hotel and a big car, for about $350 p/p... pretty good, I believe. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

CP 747 Jumbo Taxis In for Our Next Leg by Bwana_Brown While we were in Honolulu, we found it easy to get around the city. Our hotels were located very close to both the beach and the main downtown tourist area. On our second stay, a 5-day break, we rented a car and explored along the coast a bit, at one stage looking down from on high at many people swimming in a beautiful coral lagoon. There were never any problems at the airport but it was always a bit strange flying into Honolulu before you had actually left your departure point! Because of the International Dateline, our Air Nuigini Boeing 707 flights departed Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea at 10:30 PM on a Friday night and arrived in Honolulu at 10:30 AM Friday morning! On our first trip to Hawaii, we flew out via Canadian Pacific to Vancouver (by the way - in those days a round-the-world ticket cost US $2700 per adult - except the company was paying!). The second time, we decided to visit a city that we had not experienced before, so we took a Northwest airlines flight to Seattle. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

by csordila The more time zones you cross, the more you will suffer from jet lag. You gain time flying eastward and you lose time in the backward direction. This causes a syndrome, which is not else than a disturbance in your internal clock. Some things you can do to avoid the unpleasantly sleepy symptoms : After landing switch your clock to the local time as soon as possible, and never let disturb yourself of what is the time now at home. If may be, try to fly by plane landing late afternoon. If you arrive in the morning try not to sleep until the local sleep time; it facilitates your conversion. Theme: Airplane

by Hexepatty To get here: Plane... that's how most folks arrive. Fewer than 4% of our visitors arrive/depart by cruise ship. So far the US Interstate Highway hasn't connected us to the other 48! WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE FOR AIRFARE TO GO DOWN? Geez. It keeps going up. It's a drag to have to sell your 1st born to leave the Islands. But some charters outta LA and SFO also sometimes have $180 or less one way. It's really cheap right now to travel (High Season- summer! Get's cheaper in the FALL!) Very interesting! Once you arrive, take Da Bus. It's pretty much on time and you can buy an all access Bus Pass at most 7/11's for about $20. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

by depresno By Airplan. I think its about 5 our flight from the mainland (California). Getting around the Island, I guess its best to do it the American way; by car. Why dont do like us; rent a vette! It was kind of expensive, but fun (USD 400 - 24 hrs, all inclusive). If you can manage with an ordinary car they had offers like USD 120 for a Mustang convertible for 3 days. I think you will be charged extra for insurance and milage. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

My plane-from Honolulu by Sweetberry1 QANTAS' the Spirit of Australia. Walk... not only do you see more this way, it is also good for you..... 'Da Bus' is also an excellent way to get around in Honolulu. But for day trips around the Island, I would recommend hiring a car or a Harley.... For Island-hopping, Aloha Airlines - Great!
