FUN TAKING PICTURES OF SUCH BEAUTIFUL COLORS!!! Nobody comes to Hawaii to see an Indian elephant, or African lions and zebras. Right? Wrong. This 43-acre municipal zoo in Waikiki attracts visitors in droves. If you've got kids, allot at least half a day or more. The highlight is the new African Savannah, a 10-acre wild preserve exhibit with more than 40 uncapped African critters roaming around in the open. The zoo also has a rare Hawaiian nene goose, a Hawaiian pig, and mouflon sheep. (Only the goose, an evolved version of the Canadian honker, is considered to be truly Hawaiian; the others are imported from Polynesia, India, and elsewhere.)

For a real treat, take the Zoo by Twilight tour, which offers a rare look into the lives of the zoo's nocturnal residents. Tours are Saturday from 5:30-7:30; the cost is $12 for adults, $8 for children 4-12. Call 808-926-3191 for more information.

The Honolulu zoo was cute . It is not a free zoo , so be prepared to cough up that money. But why not , its going to the zoo to help rebuild, preserve, and feed the animals. The zoo is actually pretty big. Its a decent size ,but there arent that many animals , they are very spread apart. part of the zoo was being worked on , so you have to walk through a fenced area covered in this black outdoor fabric , which was rather ugly . I believe they were currently building a new area for some more animals to come in . Hopefully they will have it up and running soon . Also a few bridges to get to some exhibits were closed due to termit damage. Hopefully the money that they charged to get into this zoo will go towards fixing these peoblems. over all , the zoo was okay, i have seen much better zoo's in other states.

    Honolulu Zoo

Right near the beach and the crater and within walking distance of some of the popular hotels. It is not one f the biggest zoo but it will keep you occupied. The children's petting zoo will keep the young and old occupied.

Nice picture right, look again. The lama below was peeing while my mother was petting it;)
