What better way to enjoy the tropics than to have a Mai Tai at a beachside bar while watching the sunset. It's cliche, but it's also a must. My favorite place is the Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki, because their drinks are excellent despite the price. The mai tai's at the Hale Koa are supposed to be the best on the island, and I admit they are superb. Duke's is another popular spot.
In this picture, Moe is savoring his drink on the North Shore in Haliewa at Jameson's. If you're wondering what a mai tai is, here's the recipe:

16 oz dark rum
8 oz light rum
8 oz Orange Curacao liqueur
32 oz orange juice
32 oz pineapple juice
24 oz sweet and sour mix
8 oz grenadine syrup

Mix all ingredients together, serve chilled. This recipe makes one gallon. If you want to drink less than a gallon, then you can't hang out with Moe!

Dress Code: Dress Code? This is Hawaii! The Royal Hawaiian may require a shirt (a tank top counts) but most places just require that you wear as much clothing as a reality TV contestant.

Walk the whole Waikiki strip for a variety of entertainment from music, dancing, singing, art & tattoos, and miming. The mimes are my son's favorite, and there is even one that he makes angry and one that allows him to sit and mime once in awhile.

Dress Code: Dress casual, and wear a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Carry your own water or find it available at any of a number of ABC Stores along the way.

The Royal Hawaiian Mai Tai bar is located in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Sheraton, or otherwise known as the "Pink Palace" because of its pink paint scheme.

Over priced for sure, you are really paying for the location of the bar, more then the drinks. Located on Waikiki beach, it's a perfect place to sip on a Cocktail, or pound back one of there popular Pink Beers from the tap, while enjoying the view.

During the day it is perfect for people watching, while at night its romantic setting is complimented by the live Hawaiian music performed nightly.

Hours are from 1030am to 1230 am

There are so many different clubs on this island and each of them have their own spice of life. All along the beach at each one of the hotels their are nighclubs, live music, eateries, etc. It's a fun night to walk along and make a stop at each to experience each ones topic for the evening. The best part is you can usually walk back to your resort. Make sure to order yourself a Mai Tai they make them the best on this island.

Every Saturday night - catch a movie on the beach! Bring a towel to sit on, and enjoy the show!
