Haleiwa Joe's Seafood Grill: A north shore treat

by BLewJay Written Feb 22, 2012

On our 2nd day in Oahu, we had the opportunity to meet up with our friend Judy (who just happens to live on the North Shore) at Haleiwa Joe's Seafood Grill. What a great treat it was just to sit back, relax, eat, chat and look at the waves roll onto the beach.

Favorite Dish: Instead of ordering full meals, we decided to dine on appetizers. We had the Baby Spinach Salad (topped with pepper bacon, red onion, tomato, feta cheese & balsamic vinaigrette), a bowl of Tomato Bisque, Sizzling Mushrooms (served sizzling in garlic-herb seasoning), Tako Poke (tender ocotpus with green onions, sesame oil and limu) & Rock Shrimp Haleiwa (crispy shrimp with masago-aioli atop field greens). For dessert, we shared a Macadamia Nut Ice Cream Sundae.

Our delicious feast Judy enjoying the Macadamia Nut Sundae Ocean view from the restaurant

Haieiwa Joe's Seafood Grill: Save room for dessert

by EGitan Written Sep 2, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Overlooking the lush tropical foliage and ponds of Haiku Gardens on the East Shore, this local favorite offers fresh seafood with an Asian or Hawaiian flair. The portions are large, and you have to save room for dessert. Ask for Micaela, she offers superior service compared to the lax attitude of many servers in Hawaii.

    Favorite Dish: Crunchy Coconut Shrimp
Large shrimp dipped in tempura, rolled in coconut and cooked golden
    Black & Blue Ahi
Blackened seasonings on seared Ahi served chilled with wasabi-ranch dipping sauce
    Roasted Garlic Bread
More than enough for two! A generous helping of crusty sourdough bread topped with garlic, butter and herbs
    Ginger Peanut Chicken Salad
A lightly marinated, grilled chicken served on tossed greens with a spicy ginger dressing
    Fresh Baked
Tonight's fresh island fish baked with a macadamia crust and served on a pesto veloute along with steamed white rice and vegetables
    Love Cake
A killer chocolate cake with a hot cream cheese and chocolate filling topped with raspberry sauce
    Burnt Caramel Macadamia
A scoop of macadamia nut ice cream smothered with fresh fruits and topped with burnt caramel

Located on the north shore, near sunset beach, this local hole in the wall restaurant serves great thai food and offers a relaxed ambience after a long day of surfing or snorkeling. You can dine in your sandy sandels and bathing suite and get a great thai meal.

    Favorite Dish: GREEN PAPAYA SALAD

This place is gooood! There is one in haliewa and one in kaneohe (which is nicer) Supposedly they have the best hamburgers in the world but I never got one. (Stupid, stupid) But they have lots of yummy food. I liked the one in kaneohe cuz they had a really cool atmosphere... there was this garden and torches and... yeah, it was cool.
