Royal Hawaiina Shopping Center, Oahu
I noticed the bookstore chain of BORDERS in many places but I guess the one at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki must be the closest to you too. They have several books covering a range from literature to photo albums and a good section with Hawaiian music. Of course the travel section is very interesting here because if you plan to visit other islands too you will have many different guides focusing to a specific island.
What’s more we had the opportunity to buy also some maps for Kauai island so to orient ourselves upon our arrival there. The maps aren’t detailed though but they are very cheap 4-5 dollars each.
One evening a fine rain fell as we were walking to P.F. Changs for our evening meal, so we dashed into the Royal Hawaiian Center to wait out the raindrops.
The Royal Hawaiian Center has over 110 shops, restaurants and other venues, extending for over three blocks! Tasteful landscaping, the occasional bench and sleek storefronts create an appealing shopping area.
Stores such as Cartier, Hermes, Fendi, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Bebe, Le Sportsac, Island Art Gallery and others allow one the opportunity to stimulate Oahu's economy to the max! (Tourist visits have fallen 7% in '08).
These shops remain open beyond regular business hours in the states, making it oh-so-easy to drop in. Daily from 10am-10pm.
