Tonight we went to dinner and met this crazy middle-aged woman who was born in Australia, but raised in the US. I was given a lai (spelling??) by a big Hawaiian waitress. For good luck I had to give it away, but unfortunately I picked someone who didn't speak English (Easy to do in Waikiki due to the huge amounts of Japanese tourists) I wanted to give it to a little girl, but her father was looking at me all suspiciously as if I was trying to wrap a rattlesnake around his daughters neck. Finally, his wife caught up to him, and understood the word 'Gift'. Boy did I feel crappy for the rest of the night.

This lowering and folding of the Flag, three Flags in this case, is performed nightly some where between 5.30 & 6 pm.
This Flag Ceremony and also Lighting the Tiki Torches. It is a wonderful performance and a Ceremonial show follows near the Hotels Pool. It is a free show for every one to see, even non guest at the Hotel.
