This is a famous spot to see the blow hole. This picture is not actually the Blow Hole, but it is the canal connected to the hole, I have several pictures in this area.
If you look close, you can see the sea turtle in the water. There were whales also and sea monks playing in the sea.
Please enlarge the picture and hopefully you can see the turtles head popping out of the water.
We hired a car while we were in staying Waikiki and drove around Oahu. There are some amazing views along the south-eastern 'corner' of Oahu...it's worth a look for sure!!! The rest of the island is fairly plain/bare though. We also visited some cute little towns along the way and some nice beaches...
This is a famous tourist spot, you can see the island where "Gilligans Island" was filmed from this lookout point.
The history tells of warriors who plunged 400 feet to their deaths when fighting for the islands. The King finally united all islands of Hawaii.
If you plan to drive around Honolulu traffic in a rental car, then beware.. you might spend more than half your time waiting in very slow moving traffic, getting lost in the maze of illogical road signs and confusing one way streets.. the laid back island nature of this place is a hassle when trying to get back to the hotel in time to dress for that dinner date during rush hour. beats LA..!! .. furthermore parking around Waikiki beach is a nightmare.. on top of that.. there is so much police around.. that just an attempt at making a quick u-turn the wrong place, will have great odds at being punished with the attention of 2-3 police cars attending the process of issuing your ticket for all to see... with flickering lights etc. saw that happen many times.. the cops are fierce around here... pretty obvious that this city makes a lot of money on tourism..
IF you are white and a service member be carefull, travle in groups, and dont harass the locals they will kill you (no joke) we have way to many service and halowlies(hawaiian for non-local/ foringer) getting beat up. its finnaly getting media attention here from KHON2 ( i know 36 service members who got beat up since November Last year.)
Know not every local is out to beat you up. but still becarefull. this is coming from some one who has been here for some time now.
keebler .................You can visit it the many stores and tattoo parlors and clubs open to 4 am. (high cover charge for under 21 but worth it most nites) watch out of the gay clubs. I suggest the tattoo parlor by the BIG BUDDA. you will see it . its called SKIN DEEP TATTOO. also Hawaiis Naturel HIGH (BOB Marley and Greatful Dead's Head Quaters in Hawaiil.)
it is a beautiful place. but for the best shopping go to Milliani, Pearl Ridge in Aiea. cheaper and better silection but not to may "hawaiian stores. like in the international trade center.
also try North Shore and Halewa (historical and almost unchanged plus lots of good surf.)
