Rainbow over the airport by ATXtraveler If you are living anywhere other than Hawaii, your options are limited on how to get to Waikiki. I would recommend flying into Honolulu, (HNL), then renting a car, taking a shuttle, or catching a cab to Waikiki. There are many different options on getting to HNL, so consult your local travel agent, or go online to find a cheap seat! Leave a Comment

Taxi Dispatch - Hawaii by ATXtraveler During the trip to Waikiki, we did have a rental car, but wanted to enjoy a beer or two with dinner when we went out. We chose to use the services of the Honolulu Taxis, and this was a wise choice. Both of our taxi drivers were nice, including Shannon from Mississippi, who was formerly in the Army, and decided to just stay in this island paradise after leaving the army. The taxis were very reasonable, and much better than facing charges should someone have too much to drink and then drive. One way trips were under $10 to local restaurants, and that was almost less than some of the valet parking options! Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor HomePhone: (808) 422-2222

The bus ... no parking fees! by TropicGirl77 It's very expensive to park in Waikiki. If you've rented a vehicle, be sure you check with your hotel for parking rates/validation. Taking the bus saves you on rental, gas and parking fees, though limits you to time schedules. Leave a Comment

Horse and Doggie. by Waalewiener On my walk to to the main shopping area of Waikiki on Kawakauwa Avenue, in Lewers street I saw this lovely couple , as you can see in the picture , a big horse in front of a wagon and on its back there was this feisty but friendly little dog .I would say that the horse and the dog definitely were an '' odd '' couple. It was across the street from Denny's restaurant.. There are several Taxi companies in Waikiki area. A cab in Honolulu is quite expensive because it´s a tourist city. Example from the Honolulu Airport to Hilton Hawaiian Village costs about $35 for 8 miles and it takes about 20 minutes. The two big ones are Charley´s Taxi offers Taxi, limousine, tours, excursions and charters. Really safe to take Charley´s taxi, no crazy driving, no "shortcuts" that will cost you much more, and really polight drivers. Charley´s Taxi The Cab I dont have any experiance with The Cab since I allways took Charley´s Taxi. The Cab

by GracesTrips Renting a car in Hawaii is about what it cost anywhere else in the U.S. The "catch" in renting a car in Waikiki is that the hotels will charge you a daily fee for parking it there and it is not cheap! At the Hilton Hawaii Village, where we stayed, our daily fee to park and valet service was $25 per day and not to mention the $2 tip you give the valet attendent everytime your car is retrieved. So, keep that in mind when renting a car. For our situation, we had to. My daughter and her friends were staying at another hotel so I picked them up each morning and we used the car quite a bit to get around town. We drove to the North Shore 3 days in a row, went to Pearl Harbor and the Dole Plantation. Theme: Car/Motor Home

Helicopter tours by Kodi01 Helicopters are VERY expensive, but worth the money for the breathtaking views of the islands, which you can not see any other way. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

I used TheBus a few times with a bunch of other friends of mine when we stayed in Waikiki. Its very useful and easy to use. If you are at least 19 years old, then it can only cost $1.00 per ride. If you ask for a transfer while heading to another attraction, you are able to hold that transfer for up to 2 hours. One thing I would definately like to put out there is that tourists and locals alike use this mode of transportation and it could smell..... Leave a Comment Theme: Bus
