    Tent City- West Oahu

by Shihar Written Oct 6, 2007

One thing that we were warned of before going to Hawaii was its HUGE homeless and Meth drug problem in the state.

There is extreme obvious divide between the HAVE and HAVE NOTs that we could just not shake out of our heads the entire trip.

Many guide books advise not going to West Oahu. All along the coast there are tent cities where homeless people live. Once you think, that you pasted it all there are more and more of these little communities. At first glance, you might think that they are typical camp sites but once you get further in you realize the difference.

If your ever watch "DOG the Bounty Hunter" you are bound to see some of these residents.

We are very grateful for our trip to Hawaii, there are so many things to see that you can't any where else in the US or the world for that matter. It is such a shame to us that a state that is soo expensive and has soo much tourist industry... could let its residents down in so many ways.
