we had a few favorites but the best two were Mamas fish house and Roys, the food was just amazing, the service incredible and the ambience even better!!

everything on the menu it's incredible!! but I had the seabass with coconut and dark rum with some kind of sweet mashed potatoes!! For a quick really good and not expensive meal, try Dakine's Dogs in Kapaa.
It's a small place with very friendly owners (I assume they were the owners). Notice the counter top and menu boards---boogie and surf boards.
Update--April 5, 2003----sadly, they are no longer in business!

Our favorite restaurant on kauai was Gaylord's Plantation Restuarant near Lihue. It was set up outdoors around a courtyard and the food and service was fantastic!
Being outdoors made it really special.

We ate at a lot of great places! Food is no more costly than on the mainland. You will find that just going to Mc Donald's tastes great in Paradise! We never eat there when we are home.....but Mickey D's was a great way to have a quick breakfast and get the show on the road:) I actually drank the coffee from there and I would NOT here at home! As Mikey kept telling me....'It's KONA coffee Sharon':) We ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory, Stuart Anderson's Steakhouse and Bubba Gump Shrimp in the Ala Moana Mall to name a few. Plate lunch is a big deal here, but to be honest, this was quality time for mom and dad and we really weren't interested in anything other than spending quality time with one another and having food we were familiar with! Buzz's Steakhouse in Lanikai was DA BOMB!!! We really enjoyed having lunch there and found everyone so FRIENDLY!! Very good food!!:) One other place we liked was a local drive called the KC drive in. They had these AWESOME shakes called ono ono shakes......it was like drinking a liquid Reese's cup! They also had this waffle dog that I am so sorry I didn't get, because it looked really good, but hey, already saving for the next trip, so I will do it on the next go around!! Anyway, if you want to give them a try, they are located at 1029 Kapahulu Ave.
I loved the Thai Chicken Burger at Buzz's:) and the Coconut Shrimp at Bubba Gump's! They had FANTASTIC breakfast burritos at Mickey D's. Ono ono shake at KC drive in. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The Shore Bird on Wakiki Beach
Prices are very reasonable if you go to the early bird special. Seating is next to the beach. Live music. Fantastic view! All you can eat buffet. You cook your own steak or fish over a big grill. (Stay on the upwind side of the grill)
