Kaka' Ako: affordable and good eats

by terps94

If you are craving some good local food after a long day of shopping head to this restaurant. It's affordable and also tasty. It is centrally located in the center not too far from the Ward Theater and starbucks and cold stone creamery. Mahi _Mahi is awesome and try the Chicken madras curry

Bubba's: Great burgers and fries

by luv2scrap

Simple fare, Hamburgers, fries, onion rings and the like. Like a lot of other places, open-air. I liked the food so much, we went there twice within 5 days. Both times I had cheeseburger and onion rings. I am not a big hamburger fan, but these were good burgers, and the onion rings were to die for. Nice and crispy

Cholo's Homestyle Mexican Restaurant: Watery Salsa and TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!

by travelteacher

As a Californian, I am always excited to find a place that seems to know what they're doing with Mexican food, but I never got to find out what the food was really like. Our waitress could not remember to bring water to the table, even though we asked for it 3 times. (Finally, we had to get another waiter to bring it.) Our waitress then delivered food to two tables who had arrived after us. Thirty minutes after orering our food, she brought our main entrees (although there was no sign of the appetizer we had ordered), but not one of the plates delivered was anything anyone at the table had ordered. I was with some people who had a 2 year old. We had immediately ordered a tortilla for the child, but it was never brought to the table. My friend took the child outside to walk around, where she and the child discovered three of the waiters smoking pot outside the bathroom. When I went to...

Big Kahuna Burger: A whole lot of food

by terps94

I know a lot of you have seen the movie "Pulp fiction". There was a scene there were they mention this big ole' burgers well I don't know if they are talking about this joint .If you are craving some kalua pork sandwich or some pizza then head out to this hole in the wall place. Located in the business district this restaurant offer some good eats with very reasonable prices. They only have a couple of tables so during lunch times better get in there early. You gotta order the garlic cheeseballs and the kalua pork sandwich. for the pizzas I recommend the kanaka pizza it has shredded and bbq sauce..its yummy.

Kua A'ina: great sandwiches

by terps94

If you are craving for some good snadwiches this is the place for you. Located in Ward Center this joint offer some inexpensive but delicicous food. So if you are tired of eating big meals head down to this place. Just to give you a heads up coming here for lunch during workdays you might have to wait in line because it gets pretty crowded. I recommend the Mahi with Ortega and cheese and order the homemade fries with it.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers: Homemade Burgers

by happycampers_3

This is a bit of a fast food burger "joint". but is relatively cheap and makes some of the yummiest burgers in town. Has chicken, meat, fish, whatever u like really. And we have discovered Root Beer, the american version of sars! Wicked We just got the burger combo deal. filling and yum.

The Hula Grill: Waikiki Dining

by arcticboy

Julie and I had to try out one nice restaurant in Waikiki. So we found the Hula Grill. Very nice ambiance, right on the water. The menu was kind of pricy, but then again so are the menus of every other place in Waikiki. They had all the usual Hawaiian meals and a decent wine list. The major thing this place had going was that most of the tables were in view of the ocean. Summary: Not for the budget traveller, but a nice treat. I decided to go all out and have the lobster tail. Julie had the Mahi Mahi. The lobster tail was a bit on the small side, but it was definately delicious. Apparently Julie's Mahi Mahi was great. For Desert, we shared a Kona Coffee/Macadamia Nut mouse. Man that was good, but very heavy.

Gaylord's Restaurant: Elegant plantation dining

by jaros

Noted for both American and continental cuisine, Gaylord's offers not only good food but good service as well. All this in an old plantation mansion with pleasant views and charming gardens. Meal prices are toward the high end, but for some reason, wine prices are average. It's the sort of place where you feel no urge to rush. We only had the traditional turkey-dressing-cranberry Thanksgiving dinner, but it was wonderful.

Our private Luau on Maui. As...

by svillegirl

Our private Luau on Maui.As a part of our cruise, we took part in a private Luau held at the Westin Maui Prince Hotel. They did a fantastic job!If you can't have your own private Luau... go to the Lahaina Luau. This Luau is consistently voted the best! But book early, when I was there the first week of August, it was booked for the entire month! The 'fire dancers' are a must see! I can tell you that my favorite item wasn't Poi! It has the consistency and flavor of Elmer's School Paste.

Haleiwa Joe's: Fun and air conditioned

by seoulgirl

We sat in the rather large bar that had tables for dining. The dining room was packed, has views of the boating area on the ocean. I had sweet ribs and Mangolicious frozen drink. Nice to get out of the heat. It was a fun place w/ very good food. The menu was steak/ribs/seafood type. Happy hour 4:30-6:30 and a nice reasonably priced wine list. Good menu selection, well seasoned and prepared. Nice staff. I'd go again.
