The Expedition floated down the Clearwater River into the Snake at the confluence of the two here in Lewiston. Winter was approaching and they were still in unknown territory, and depending on their two Nez Perce guides to lead them to the ocean. There is an Interpretive Center in Hells Gate State Park with views of the confluence. Near the Center is a tensicum statue by Nancy Dreher depicting the Earth Mother. This is a great place in which to see history.

With Adventurist Air Ballooning I can honestly say you will have a remarkable experience. If you think the valley is beautiful from the Lewiston Hill then try out flying over the Snake River at 5000ft, but not before we landed on it and floated downstream for 10 minutes! Incredible look at the 7 Devils Peaks in Hells Canyon and the Wallowa Mountains in Oregon.

Definitely peaceful and not scary like you might think!

These huge boats that carry 30+ people go up and down the Snake river from Lewiston and Clarkston. Do not waste your money.

Unique Suggestions: Drive the old highway 95 grade instead.

Fun Alternatives: Drive up to Moscow or down to Riggins. Beautiful drives
