When my sister Ronda came to visit me a few years ago, we took her to Arlington International Race Track. Her husband used to own a race horse, and so she wanted to buy him something at the gift shop. It was the first time that I had been inside this wonderful shop.
She ended up buying him a t-shirt and a lighter that had a horse and Arlington International Race Course on them. Her husband was thrilled and really loved them. They are quality items; there are no tacky items in this shop.
What to buy: The Gift Shop has shirts, scarfs, hats, jackets, glasses, cups, flags, photographs, statues, jewels, and food items.
The items are quite nice and of great quality. They would please most anyone, even those who don't go to the races. Not everything has writing on it.
What to pay: You pay from $1.00 to hundreds of dollars, depending on the item.
Downtown Mall: Nice setting for shopping
This is what a shopping center can look like, not the ugly strip malls that skirt American roadsides. There are many shops, and a movie theatre. Other cities should use this as an example for planned shopping.
What to buy: Get flowers for your loved one while she shops for a new outfit at Ann Taylor's Loft. Then get fresh bread, you can't beat the smell, at Panera's.
