Boardman's Art Theater: Timeless Theater
This theater, seated in downtown Champaign, is a remarkable little place that seems to be blissfully immune (so far) from the ravages of time. The prices are decent, and there are concessions like any other theater. It was also retrofitted with modern digital sound system.
But it is the small things that set this theater apart. It is a single screen theater, and it shows non-Blockbuster films, mostly art or independent films. The decorations are all from previous decades, simple and clean. There is space between the rows of seats for tall persons, or those with long legs, and even the front row is with enough room to comfortably watch the film. There is a real projectionist there. In all ways you don't feel like a sardine, processed and stuffed into a small theater with advertisements running all the time. You feel like you're going out, for entertainment. And that is what a theater is all about.
Mike & Molly's: Who Likes Booze?
Mike & Molly's is hands down the best local watering hole in Champaign with more to offer than its' extensive beer selection and freshest Guinness taps in town. It also boasts the most beautful beer garden in Champaign, great DJs playing rock, punk, 80s, garage, etc. great live local shows, and the most knowledgable and down to earth bartenders in the area. The owner himself is usually having a Guinness with the locals. The crowd ranges from 21 to 81 primarily from mid 20s through mid 30s If you're looking for a relaxing, down to earth, yet smart crowd where you can actually go in and strike up a conversation with a stranger at the bar, M&Ms is the place for you. The jukebox is chock full of good tunes, including Tom Waits, Wilco, Joe Jackson, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Nick Cave, and Pat Benatar. Local shows tend to start around 10pm, range from $3-5 cover charge and are usually upstairs or out in the beer garden so you only have to pay if you want to see the show. Rock/garage DJs start at 10pm and cover charge is $1. First Sunday of every month has live Irish music session and every Tuesday happy hour (4-9pm) a DJ plays traditional Irish music. Locals can be found watching whatever current big game is on the telly, playing darts, or having a conversation.
If you have any taste at all you'll make sure Mike & Molly's is a destination spot during your trip to Champaign. Extensive seasonally rotating list of microbrews and international bottled beer in addition to 10-tap selection including Bell's, Guinness, and Sierra Nevada.

R and R's: Lots of Fun
R & R's is a college bar and it's a lot of fun (or at lest it was when I was there)- Great music and tons of people. Get a shark bowl to drink- share it with someone though- it's really good and very strong.
Dress Code: Anything goes!
The White Horse Inn: The White Horse Inn
One of my favorite bars to go especially in the spring and during the summer when it's warm outside. Then you can sit outside and on the roof of the White Horse Inn and enjoy your beer under the stars. They also have special days w/ karaokee and other events.
