    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Is Soldier Field "the eyesore on the Lake Shore"? Or is a spaceship blasting Chicago into international prominence in the 21st Century? Both views have their defenders. Certainly the old Soldier Field - which opened in 1924 - was no longer suited to the contemporary demands of athletes and audiences. Whether it would have been possible to preserve the old field of a Greco-Roman arena remains unclear. What is clear is that the new Soldier Field represents a dramatic break with the past, rather than a compliment to it. Which is to say that it's really a very typically "Chicago" construction, IMHO.

A good place to see it is from Burnham Drive, in front of the planetarium.

Fondest memory: Soldier Field is the home of the Chicago Bears. It wasn't football season when I went but even if it had have been I wouldn't have gone. I find American football extremely boring to watch and I understand that tickets cost a fortune.

Favorite thing: This is just a placeholder while I upload all my photos and then organize my tips. Please do not rate this one at this time.
