Have a fabulous breakfast, lunch or dinner at Anne Sather's, only a few door east from the el stop (towards the lake) on the south side of Belmont. Just great food. Nothing odd or weird like the cutting edge chefs. This is a modest cost dependable everyday place. A visit to Chicago just wouldn't be authentic without a stop here. Good for Sunday brunch when Orange is backed up onto the sidewalk and into the street.

Favorite Dish: Oh, just anything, but Sweedish fruit soup is wonderful.

Ann Sather: Sooo fattening, but soooo good

There are a few of these restaurants around town. They serve Swedish food and they have a good bakery. The ambiance is nice and 'old world'. They have cool murals on the walls. And the food is delicious! Just be warned - it's traditional Swedish food and it's traditionally swimming in fat. Of course, that's probably what makes it taste so good. :)

Favorite Dish: The cinnamon buns are delicious! And they come free with your meal! I absolutely LOVE the potato sausage with their spicy brown mustard. The Swedish meatballs and pancakes are delicious as well as the latkes. The potatoes are great too! LOL I guess I'm having a hard thinking of anything I DON'T like from Ann Sather's. :) This is seriously one of my favorite breakfast places.

Ann Sather: Multiple Locations for great breakfast

This restaurant has about 5 locations in the Chicago area, we went to the one in Wrigleyville (Lakeview). A large restaurant in the middle of hustle and bustle outside the downtown area, this was a great place to go for breakfast and take in the people watching. For about $8, you get a heaping plate of food to keep you full on a long morning of shopping or sightseeing.

Favorite Dish: I had the pecan french toast with hazelnut cream and this was a wonderful dish--and the side of bacon completed it nicely. This toast was almost like having dessert. My friend had 2 eggs, which were so fluffy they looked like 3 or 4, and if you order one of the egg dishes, you get 2 cinnamon rolls. They're not only delicious but they're also HUGE. The best part was getting them right out of the oven while theyr'e still warm!!

    Ann Sathers: Great Swedish Food

by rckenney Updated Oct 6, 2003

This place has the best pastries I have ever tasted. Great Swedish pancakes too! And the Cinnamon Rolls are as big as your head. Great wait staff, weekends are very crowded for breakfast. Go early.
