I admit that after living in Chicagoland for over 15 years I only just recently been to Bandera. What a great find and it was right under my nose. We had to wait some in the bar, but it was not unpleasant. There is live Jazz during the evening which adds to the experience.
Favorite Dish: The skillet cornbread appetizer is a must. I also highly recommend the Macho Salad. It is lettuce with avocado, chicken, goat cheese, dates, almonds and corn. Yum.
Favorite Dish: The cornbread! The plain skillet of cornbread is not on the menu, but just as for it. Delicious sweet cornbread baked with onions, peppers, etc. A meal in itself!
I also had the smoked artichoke with dip, which was also excellent.
Bandera is a casual lunch/dinner place situated on a second story over several stores on Michigan Avenue. Great location! You can ask for a table by the window and watch the shoppers pass from a birds-eye view.
We were here for the first time in December 2004--the service was great and the food was delicious!
