Charlie Trotter's is perhaps the most amazing dining experience I have ever had. We were in town for business and our host treated us for dinner hear-very good thing as the bill for 5 of us was over $2500 US. That's not including the tip.
But despite the insane cost, I still think it was worth it. It ended up being a 16 course tasting menu, it was only 12 on the menu, but Charlie Trotter personally brought out the extra courses.
The food was spectacular, that room amazing, and service impeccable. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth it. Sadly, I doubt I will ever be back, a) I dont know if I'll ever be in Chicago again, and b) even if I were, I doubt I could afford to return.
Favorite Dish: I tripped into heaven when I ate the foie gras. I have had it prepared many times, and many different ways, but it was pure heaven here. Served with perfectly caramelized onions, and a rich veal reduction-absolutely delicious
Charlie Trotter is the owner and head chef and is incredibly talented and inventive.
The restaurant is in an unassuming, yet elegant two-storey brick house.
18,000 bottles in the wine cellar!
Named best restaurant in the US in 2000!
Favorite Dish: Halibut w/ pig tail and tofu.
Unique and wonderful meals to delight the eyes, nose, mouth and palatte. Many items to taste, all in small quantities, but more than enough food. No one ever leaves with room for more. Wonderful service. Great wine list.
Favorite Dish: Any of the prix fixe menu's. I usually order the Red Wine one but all are great.
