Kiki's Bistro: River North-French bistro
When I walked into this place a little after noon on a Wednesday there were very few people dining, traffic picked up a little bit later. The dining room was pleasantly decorated in a country French motif and wasn't at all loud.
Service was a little slow, especially for the lunch crowd, and the waiter a little surly, perhaps at Kiki's they want you to have an authentic French dining experience LOL
Kiki's is located in a rather isolated spot in River North. I walked there from the north loop and didn't feel unsafe even though I was really the only pedestrian around but had it been evening I would have taken a cab. They have "free" valet parking if a parking spot is not readily available.

Favorite Dish: I tried the Steak Pomme Frites, it was good but I have had better in Chicago at Mon Ami Gabi in Lincoln Park and also at N9NE on Randolph (although they do regular fries instead of the thin crisp frites that Kiki's has).
My dining companions had French onion soup which looked pretty tasty, duck with mixed greens and roasted lamb. They seemed to enjoy their selections.
Kiki's Bistro: Delicious French Food near Downtown
Owned & operated by Georges "Kiki" Cuisance, Kiki's Bistro provides authentic French cuisine to local Chicagoans and tourists alike.
The general ambience is quite wonderful though our waiter - an older fellow with a beard - was more than a little gruff. But the wonderful older French lady at the reception desk made up for him.
Favorite Dish: My lunch compatriots and I had Steak avec Pomme Frites, Duck, and Roasted Lamb. I also had a French Onion Soup to start. All were very good.
Warning: A few blocks to the north and to the west is the very dangerous Cabrini Green area. So it's best to use the valet parking or take a taxi right to/from the front door. It's truly not a problem once you're there; just that the neighborhood isn't great.

Kiki's Bistro.: Kiki's Bistro.
Kiki is French and his place is country-style, a bistro. People wear everything from suits to jeans. You are most likely to be comfortable if you are dressed nicely but not formally. (You certainly won't be alone if you do wear a suit, though). It's a large room, a little noisy, with absolutely wonderful food. This is probably my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Not cheap but not outrageous. (Entrees around $25) And, best of all, you can go over and over and not tire of the place.
Favorite Dish: Steak au poivre (although I've never had a bad meal, regardless of choice)
