We popped in to Potbelly's to grab a quick sandwich for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. More than just a deli, they make a variety of different sandwiches, all made to order, and all made quickly. The sandwiches were delicious and inexpensive.
Stop by any location and enjoy a sandwich.
The restaurant itself was decorated nicely and was clean.
It started out in 1977 as an antiques shop, then added sub sandwiches on the side. Now, more than 20 years later, Potbelly's Sandwich Works is a full-fledged restaurant, offering about a dozen sub sandwiches, plus soups, potato and pasta salad, and yummy smoothies, milkshakes and malts. It's kept the antiques theme, filling its charming spaces with vintage odds and ends. And you'll likely tap your toes to live music. The place is almost always crowded; be prepared to wait in line.
Favorite Dish:
All the sandwiches cost the same. Be sure to order properly- first order the type of sandwich, then once it is cooked tell the server which condiments you want. Most of my friends swear by the Wreck. I like the meatball sub. You can now choose wheat or white bread.
Here is the list of some of my favorite sandwiches: (all $3.79+ tax)
Chicken Salad: with provolone
Meatball: with marinara and provolone
Wreck: salami, roast beef, turkey, ham with swiss cheese
Potbelly Sandwich Works is Chicago's local place for good sandwiches at a great price, with lots of Chicagoland locations. They don't have the biggest menu, just the basics really, but they're fresh quality sandwiches. And if you see a long line, especially at lunch, don't fret - they'll get you in and out real fast. The service is great!!!
Good sandwiches, local Chicago atmosphere and friendly people...all at Potbelly Sandwich Works
Favorite Dish:
I've gotta go with either their turkey or roast beef sandwiches. Ask for the Italian seasonings, and get the macaroni salad - it's really good, with small chunks of cheese too.
Excellent sandiwiches. You can choose between several and to take with or without additions (salad, oil, pickle, jalapeno etc.). Forget the Subway (I dont like their advertising spitting on other compaines) and visit Potbelly. You wont regret!
Favorite Dish:
A Wreck (beef, turkey, salami and spices)
Was started by an antique dealer and you can tell. It has a cosy warm feel to it. The restaurant was built around the idea of a potbelly stove and a good sandwich.
Open seven days a week 11am to 11pm
