Inside by the deli by dlandt you'll think you are in Poland. Walk in here, and you'll hear little other than Polish. The first thing you will see is rows and rows of sausages and the backs of lots of people. When you listen, you'll hear nothing but Polish spoken here.
I usually by the fresh sausages of course. They also have other goodies, as well as a lunch counter. Look aroudn and explore a few things, you might like them. Once you have some of their sausage, you'll never pick up a package in the grocery store, or eat in one of those lame, expensive downtown haunts again. For .99 pound, you can get a lot of quality stuff, and because its Polish, its all very clean.
Prices here are about half or less what you would pay on the North side and about a quarter or less of what you would pay downtown, if you can even find comparable products downtown. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: 51?? W ArcherDirections: Little Poland

The entrance gate to a 300-year old Chinese house by ChicagoGuy This place is like a museum of Asian furniture and exotic art. The big difference is that you can take the items home. They have everything from Han Dynasty Tomb figures, to dinosaur eggs, to British colonial furniture. Defiantly worth a look.

This is a medium sized groceria that also serves up good sandwiches. They have the usual assortment of Italian cold cuts and cheeses as well as about five rows of imported food and other things, mostly Italian with a minor in Greek. Olive oils, biscotti, coffees etc.
Italian Sausage, seafood salad, fresh bread, scamorza, hot capicola, gardiniera, sub sandwiches
About the same as a grocery store, though some of the imported foods are a little more. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: Northwest HighwayDirections: Edison Park (near suburb)

Joe's by dlandt This is a small butcher and sausage shop with a local, loyal clientele. It is NOT a restaurant. The owner is Hungarian though I'd been going there for years thinking he was Austrian. (this is an old German neighborhood) and I think some of his employees are Hungarian because ... 1. I can't identify their language, but its not Slavic, and 2. See they carry Hungarian spices and products.
All the sausages I have tried are melt in your mouth good and they aren't shy about telling you how to cook them. My favorites are the veal bratwurst and The salamis are fabulous and meaty, full of flavor, try the paprika ones. its homemade and they have their own smoker too. Smoked pork loin and chops.
Cheaper than most supermarkets for sausage and meats. Whole salamis (you know with the strings attached etc.) should be about $7. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: Western And Sunnyside, squint or you'll miss itDirections: Lincoln Square (NOT Lincoln Park)

by shrimp56 Water Tower Place is a vertical shopping mall that takes it's name from the adjacent Water Tower -- yes the one that survived the Chicago Fire! . The picture shows the fountain inbetween the escalator that takes you up to the shops & restaurants. . The "anchor" stores are Marshall Field's & Lord & Taylor. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is perched on the upper floors. Leave a Comment

Tiffany ceiling Marshall Field's by Dabs Many people miss this beautiful Tiffany glass mosaic ceiling as they are busy shopping at the Marshall Field's (now Macy's) on State, I didn't even know it was there until about a year ago. It was installed in 1907, it’s the largest unbroken example of Tiffany Favrile glass in the world, with over 1.6 million pieces. The best way to see it is from the main floor, find the Clinique counter in the cosmetics section and look up. For a closer view you can head up to the 5th floor, I believe I found it in the lingerie section so keep an eye out for undergarments. Leave a Comment

Used and new threads and jewelry. There are some good buys on club clothing. The window displays are, at times, nasty as hell.
Leather jacket, crazy t-shirts, freaky pants, wigs, a new life.

If you have a taste for gourmet wine, liquors, and food, this is the place for you. I have traveled a lot. Sometimes, at home, I want some of the exotic flavors I have had abroad. I can find many of these things at Binny’s in Lakeview.
I like the Pisco (from Peru) with sugar and lime juice. The Ravenswood wines, from Sonoma California, are wonderful. The French wines, like Chateauneuf du Pape, are always good. Also, they have some tasty cheese and olives. Hours: Mon-Sat: 9:00-9:00 Sun: 11:00-6:00 Email: ivanhoe@binnys.com
You can spend a little or a lot here. I can find a good wine here starting at $10. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: 3000 N.
