Coming from NYC, we don't usually visit art museums on vacation. The miniatures were very detailed & particularly memorable.

The best art museum we have visited. If I remember right the only one that is suppose to be better is the one in New york. Spend the day here.

Plenty of museums give visitors a difficult choice, so look up the web side before deciding where to go.

The "River North" gallery scene is no longer cutting edge, but the galleries, stores and restaurants make this a nice place to spend a day.

The decorative arts are especially strong at the Art Institute. You will find this bowl and many other fine examples of American crafts on the ground floor of the museum.

Don't miss the Art Institute of Chicago. While it covers all eras of art, it has an especially strong collection of Impressionist painters -- as well as newly renovated Asian galleries.
