Buckingham Fountain by meteorologist1 The Buckingham Fountain area located in Grant Park offers a breathtaking view of the Chicago skyscrapers. The fountain itself is the centerpiece of Grant Park and is considered one of the finest fountains in the country. The fountain was built back in the late 1920's and was funded by philanthropist Kate Buckingham in memory of her brother. The fountain can be seen while driving on Lake Shore Drive and is within walking distance from Millenium Park and the Magnificent Mile. The best photographs of Chicago can be obtained here, so don't miss the excellent photograph opportunity. Leave a Comment

Buckingham Fountain by jmhenry1123 The Buckingham Fountain is the crowning decorative centerpiece of Grant Park. It is framed by the lakefront and Congress Parkway and Columbus Drive. The fountain has a magnificent plume of water shooting over 60 feet in the air. At night the fountain is bathed in an array of colors. Leave a Comment

by rebeccash The Buckingham fountain is really amazingly beautiful under the blue sky. I made a wish there, but it hasn't come true by now. But it's not harmful to try.

"The great Buckingham fountain." by naughtee_kittee This fountain is a great experience to see, especially on a warm summer day. This fountain is famous, it has been in many shows and movies. At night it lights up into different colors. Leave a Comment

Buckingham Fountain at sunset by gover We sat by the fountain during the Taste of Chicago to enjoy the views (and our cheesecake!) Only disappointment that during "The Taste" they shut the lights off the fountain at 9:00 pm.

I'm just loading pictures and place holders until I can get back and add some text. Come back in November and see what's been added.

The Fountain which is located in Grant Park is consider one of the biggest fountain in the world and most popular attractions in Chicago. The four sea horses on its sides represent the four states that touch Lake Michigan: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The fountain operates from Apr to Nov (10am to 11pm each day). Every hour for 20 minutes the fountain produces a major water display and accompanied by lights and music at dusk.

The fountain is one of the cities most impressive sights, watching the 133 jets shoot water to a height of 135ft. During the day it's an ideal place to relax from the heat & the crowds of the city. At night hundreds of spotlights create a show set to music & light on the hour from dusk to 11pm (April to October). The four pairs of seahorses in each corner represent the four US states that border Lake Michigan.

In the summer Grant Park is an awesome place to go for a jog and have a beautiful view of the Lake- if you're adventurous enough you can jog to Soldier Field and back, with Buckingham Fountain in the center of it all. Leave a Comment
