The Air Show was in town during one of my first weeks in Chicago. I had never gone to an airshow before and didn't plan on going to this one - until I realized that you really can't avoid it. Most of the planes and helicopters fly over Lake Michigan so there are a lot places to get a view of it. Then there are the Blue Angels. They stay off shore most of time but every once in a while one will break away and fly around the city and in between the Sears and Hancock Towers. I was very impressed. It's quite a sight (and sound). It usually comes around mid-late August.

PS: Forget about parking near the lake if you have a car. Take public transportation into the city.

This is Chicago's lungs. This park is a great place to stroll around. It has a great zoo within the park and has a great veiw of the skyline of Chicago

Watch a sunrise over Lake Michigan.
It doesn't cost anything. The air is very fresh and rejuvenating in the morning. Viewed from the lakefront, there are no obstructions.

When you are in Chicago, don't forget to take a stroll beside Lake Michigan. On a warm sunny day, this is the place to go enjoy and relax the beauty of this city. The lake is so massive that one would think that you're actually on the side of the ocean. Here you can get some sun, ride your bike, play beach volleyball, and tons of other outdoor stuff.

When you travel along the Lake by bike, you'll see and meet the most interesting people, the views are just wonderful, and it's quick enough to see it all in an afternoon. I'd reccommend you repeat as necessary, of course. I rode all around the Loop and Lakeshore all summer.
